AEGD FACULTY POSITION (Full time)
The Department of Dentistry of Chesapeake Health Care, the clinical host of the NYU Langone Dental Department’s accredited educational programs in Pediatric Dentistry and Advanced General Dentistry is seeking a new full time faculty member in our expanding AEGD Residency program.
Chesapeake Health Care is a Federally Qualified Health Center and is the major provider of primary care health services to children and adults in the three lower counties of the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
Located in a state of the art 24 operatory dental facility in Princess Anne, Maryland, a new second facility in Salisbury opened in 2018.
The position entails a combination of mentoring and teaching, supervision of residents, program administration and direct patient care. The position is at the junior faculty level and includes mentoring to assist the individual in professional development, particularly for those interested in administrative aspects of institutional based dentistry. All AEGD faculty report to the site’s Associate Program Director and receive faculty appointments through NYU Medical Center.
AEGD faculty are expected to have clinical skills in restorative and rehabilitative dentistry, minor oral surgery and those surgical, prosthetic, endodontic and periodontal procedures that are appropriate within the scope of the practice of general dentistry. In addition, successful candidates must have comfort in serving a population of Obstetrics patients through all phases of their pregnancy.
The general patient population served has high treatment needs and faces many socio-economic challenges and barriers to care, requiring that faculty have an understanding of community and family dynamics in order to successfully bring patients to an improved state oral health.
Chesapeake Health Care is located in close proximity to many recreational activities centered around the Chesapeake Bay and numerous beaches. It is also located within easy weekend drives to New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, DC.
