Pediatric Dentistry Faculty Position


The Department of Dentistry of Chesapeake Health Care, the clinical host of the NYU Langone Dental Department’s accredited educational programs in Pediatric Dentistry and Advanced General Dentistry is seeking a new full time faculty member in our expanding Pediatric Dentistry Residency program.

Chesapeake Health Care is a Federally Qualified Health Center and is the major provider of primary care health services to children and adults in the three lower counties of the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Located in a state of the art 24 operatory dental facility in Princess Anne, Maryland, a new second facility in Salisbury opened in 2018.

The position entails a combination of mentoring and teaching, supervision of residents, program administration and direct patient care. The position is at the junior faculty level and includes mentoring to assist the individual in professional development and progressing through the ABPD board certification process. All Pediatric Dentistry faculty report to the site’s NYU Langone Department of Dentistry Associate Program Director who serves as Chief of Pediatric Dentistry at Chesapeake Health Care and our hospital affiliate.

Pediatric Dentistry faculty are expected to participate in oral conscious sedation and hospital/ambulatory surgery center based General Anesthesia cases, as well as providing consultative services for on-call residents. The patient population served has high treatment needs and faces many socio-economic challenges and barriers to care, requiring that faculty have an understanding of community and family dynamics in order to successfully bring children to oral health.

Chesapeake Health Care is located in close proximity to many recreational activities centered around the Chesapeake Bay and numerous beaches. It is also located within easy weekend drives to New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, DC.

Salary is competitive and Chesapeake Health Care offers a wonderful benefits package. US Citizens may also be eligible for the National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program. Participation in that program will require an 80% time commitment to direct patient care activities.
